AUTOMATIC FEED PUMP CONTROL SYSTEM (AFPCS)

AFPCS is used in conjunction with air-operated diaphragm (AOD) feed pumps to automatically increase the feed pump pressure during the filtration cycle. High initial feed pump pressures can build a very tightly packed, impermeable layer of solids on the filter cloth, restricting the flow of slurry and ultimately the density of the cake. Reduced initial feed pressure allows a soft layer of slurry particles to be deposited on the filter cloth. This layer becomes the filtering media, enhancing the filterability of the incoming slurry.

SINGLE STAGE FEED PUMP CONTROL (SSFPC)

The SSFPC operates using a single stage air pressure setting. The system utilizes a solenoid, regulator, and needle valve combination to operate the AOD pump. The control panel will open the solenoid to provide air to the system and the regulator will provide adequate feed pressure to provide final pack off on the filter press. A pressure isolation ring on the feed inlet detects the final pressure setting which triggers the system to shut off air to the AOD pump.

The SSFPC can also be programmed to control the pump based on time.

PREMIUM FEED PUMP CONTROL SYSTEM (PFPCS)

The PFPCS includes PLC control of one or two AOD feed pumps as well as manifold valve controls.

PROCESS AUTOMATION CONTROL SYSTEM (PACS)

Filter presses can be equipped with PACS when automated valves are included. The PACS includes PLC control of the process valves associated with the filter press. Process control options that may be included with the PACS include, but are not limited to: Air Blow, Even Fill, Pre-Coat, Acid Wash, Core Blow, Core Flush, Core Scour, Double-End Feed, Cake Wash, and Pre-Fill. Additionally, the PACS can control one or two AOD feed pumps.

ELECTRIC HYDRAULIC CONTROL SYSTEM (EHCS)

Includes feed pump control and adds control of electric hydraulic and drip trays. M.W. Watermark™ filter presses are equipped with the EHCS when electric hydraulics are included with a filter press, providing control of the closure system, feed pump, and adds control of electric hydraulics and drip trays. The EHCS features a touch screen control interface, an emergency stop push button, and a disconnect switch in a NEMA 4 enclosure.

FULL AUTOMATION CONTROL SYSTEM (FACS)

The FACS includes the ability to control the filter press feed pump(s), the process valves, the filter press hydraulics, drip trays, an automatic plate shifter, and/or an automatic high pressure cloth washing unit. Manifold process control options that may be included with the FACS include, but are not limited to: Air Blow, Even Fill, Pre-Coat, Acid Wash, Core Blow, Core Flush, Core Scour, Double-End Feed, Cake Wash, and Pre-Fill. The enclosure is NEMA 4, and standard power input is 480VAC / 3Φ / 60Hz. Other voltages are available.

Q: What are the benefits of increasing pump pressure during the filtration cycle?

Check out New and Improved : M.W.Watermark  AFPCS

Q: How does AFPCS help a filter press run at its optimum efficiency?

By reducing the initial feed pressure, a soft layer of slurry particles can be deposited on the cloth. Because this layer then becomes the filtering media, the filterability of the incoming slurry is enhanced, extending the life of the filter cloths.  See How To maximize the life your filter cloths for more info.
